Delistor: automatically hide out-of-stock Shopify products

Delistor watches product and variant inventory and delists items the moment they hit the threshold you set, so customers never buy something you cannot ship.

The problem it solves

Overselling is expensive in a way that does not show up on a single line of your P&L. You refund the order, you apologise, you lose the customer, and if it happens often enough you collect the kind of reviews that suppress future sales. It happens most to the products you would least like to lose: the fast movers, the seasonal runs, and the one-size-left variants that sell out between syncs.

Shopify will happily keep selling a product whose inventory has reached zero unless you have turned off overselling for every variant, and it does nothing at all about the storefront clutter of items nobody can buy. Manually drafting products as they sell out works until you have more than a handful of SKUs.

What Delistor does

Delistor is a rules engine for delisting. You tell it what "out of stock" means for a given product or variant, and it takes the action you choose as soon as the threshold is crossed:

  • Set the product to draft so it disappears from the storefront but keeps its history, images, and SEO handle for when it returns.
  • Archive the product when it is gone for the season or gone for good.
  • Set variant inventory to zero when you want the product to stay listed but a specific size or colour to stop being purchasable.

Rules apply at the product level and the variant level, so a single tee can keep selling in Medium while Small quietly drops out of the picker.

Bulk cleanup for what already slipped through

Most stores that install Delistor already have a backlog of zero-stock products sitting live on the storefront. The zero stock finder surfaces every one of them in a single view and lets you delist them in bulk, so you start from a clean catalogue rather than waiting for rules to catch up one sale at a time.

Who it is for

Delistor earns its keep for merchants who carry variant-heavy catalogues, run seasonal or limited product drops, sell one-of-a-kind or vintage inventory, or fulfil from stock that moves faster than a manual review cycle. If you have ever refunded an order because two people bought the last one, this is the category of tool you need.

It runs entirely in the Shopify admin. There is no theme edit, no code, and no storefront script, so it will not affect page speed or conflict with your theme.

Pricing

$7/month or $77/year, which saves about 8%.

The plan is unlimited: unlimited delist rules and unlimited products and variants tracked, plus the zero stock finder. A 7-day free trial is included, so you can point it at your real catalogue before paying anything.

Common questions

Does Delistor bring products back when I restock?

Yes. The rules are two-way. When inventory returns above your threshold, the product is restored to the state it was in, which is why drafting is usually a better first choice than archiving.

Will delisting hurt my SEO?

Drafting a product removes it from the storefront while keeping the product record and its handle intact, so the URL comes back exactly as it was when you restock. Archiving is the more permanent option and is better suited to products that are genuinely retired.

Does it work with variants, not just whole products?

Yes, and that is the case it was built for. You can set variant-level rules that zero out a single size or colour without touching the parent product.

Do I need a developer to set it up?

No. It installs from the Shopify App Store and is configured entirely from the admin. There is no theme or checkout modification.
